Notes for Overseas Applicants

Pupils from overseas can study at Westminster provided that they have a relative or guardian with whom they can stay at weekends. Westminster is probably not a suitable boarding school for boys from overseas under the age of 16, as all our younger boarders return home every weekend.

Fluency in English

In order to cope with both the social and academic demands of being at Westminster, pupils should be fluent English speakers. Normally, pupils should have been educated in the medium of English for at least three years before they come to the School.

Religious beliefs

Although the School is firmly rooted in the Christian tradition, religious belief does not form part of the School's selection criteria. However, candidates should be aware that Westminster has compulsory Saturday morning school.

Age at admission

Note that Westminster is a school for pupils aged between 13 and 18. Pupils leave Westminster before their 19th birthdays, which means that pupils must be under 17 when they commence their Sixth Form studies.

Entrance examinations and interviews

Overseas candidates for 16+ entry may sit the entrance examinations in their own country but, if invited to do so, they must come to Westminster School for interview on the prescribed day.

Visas

All student visa applications to study in the UK are now assessed using the Points Based System. To qualify for a visa you will need 40 points. 30 points will be awarded by having a Certificate of Acceptance to Study (CAS) from Westminster School. 10 points will be given for proving that you have enough money to meet the cost of studying and living in the UK (known as maintenance funds).
