Notes for Overseas Applicants

Overseas pupils can study at Westminster provided they have a relative or legal guardian living in the UK with whom he or she can stay for some weekends.

Fluency in English

In order to cope with both the social and academic demands of being at Westminster, pupils should be fluent English speakers. Normally, pupils should have been educated in the medium of English for at least three years before they come to the School.

Religious beliefs

Although the School is firmly rooted in the Christian tradition, religious belief does not form part of the School's selection criteria. However, candidates should be aware that Westminster has compulsory Saturday morning school.

Commitment to studies

Boys who study at Westminster at 13 years old should intend to stay for at least five years to complete GCSE and A Level qualifications.

Boys and girls who join the School at 16 years old should intend to stay for two years to complete their A Levels. To enter the sixth form, pupils are assessed on the basis of the entry exam they take before admission. It is not essential to have taken GCSEs if such exams are not the norm in the candidate’s school.

There is no short-term study programme at Westminster School.

Registration from overseas

As a school that specialises in teaching pupils of high academic ability, Westminster is keen to enrol students who will feel comfortable here. If you feel that your child may be suitable, please read the notes for parents and entry process before you proceed to register online.

There are specific guidelines and registration deadlines for each entry level you need to be aware of before you register your child.
