- Walking Tour – London’s Statues of Women (PM Tour)
- Details
Statues of male soldiers and statesmen around the streets of Westminster are well known, but what about the statues of women? This 1.5 hour walking tour will explore the remarkable women depicted in bronze and stone around Westminster. There are more than you might think: from Suffrage campaigners to hidden effigies of a ‘poetical scientist’, a martyred royal and many more.
The tour will be guided by Juliet Rix (AHH, 1977-79), OW, a Westminster School parent and author of ‘London’s Statues of Women’ (Safe Haven Books, 2025). After Westminster School, she went to Cambridge University to read Biological Natural Sciences, but switched to History of Art. Juliet is an award-winning freelance journalist and writer on art, travel, history and heritage. She also leads cultural tours to Malta.
The event is £25 per person and includes a copy of ‘London’s Statues of Women’. The tour begins promptly at the stated times. Please meet us by the arch into Dean’s Yard in Sanctuary 10 minutes before the tour starts. Please note, we will be walking for 90 minutes, and if it is bad weather, bring a raincoat!
