Following the success of its inaugural event in 2025, TEDx returned to Westminster in May.
Engaging with the theme A Symphony of Difference, seven speakers explored the idea from seven unique perspectives. Topics ranged from the challenges faced by modern mothers to the importance of perseverance in difficult circumstances, from the divisive power of a single pronoun to the unifying strength of human connection.
Led by Jai (Sixth Form, BB) and a wider team of Sixth Form volunteers, the line-up included two Westminster pupils, two Harris Westminster Sixth Form students, an Old Westminster, members of the extended school network, and external experts connected to the community. Together, they shared their experiences and nuanced thinking with the audience.
Jasmine (Sixth Form, BB) said: “Starting out with a loose idea of deadlines and objectives, TEDx Westminster School was a test of trust, resilience and creativity. The event showcased a range of perspectives which, behind it all, was orchestrated by the tireless effort of Sixth Form students scrambling to create poster illustrations or write speaker descriptions to encapsulate an entire career in just a few sentences. Its impact lies not only in the words of the speakers, but in the closer bonds this project has fostered amongst students who previously may not have come together. The night itself was the product of several individuals each pulling their own weight over several months, making it an extremely rewarding experience which translated to a thought-provoking audience experience.”
As TEDx Westminster continues to grow, it remains a powerful example of pupil-led initiative, bringing together diverse voices and ideas in a space that celebrates curiosity, dialogue and meaningful exchange.
